Coaching Tools that I use!

Thanks for visiting this page! Below is a list of tools that I currently use. I’ve broken this down into a few different categories. When making this list, I went back and asked myself, “What tools have I used in the last month or two?” to make sure I didn’t include any tools I’ve used but don’t use on a regular basis. I have linked all of them as best as I can. This site was last updated on September 28th, 2024

If you have any questions about anything I use, please feel free to reach out anytime.

Admin Tools That I Use

  • CoachNow: Student Management, I’ve been using CoachNow for roughly 10 years. It’s always been very reliable and is my most-used app. I use it for lessons, communication with my players, and to manage all of my online students as well.
  • Acuity: Lesson Booking, Package Tracking, Online lessons, payment platform.  I switched over earlier this year from a previous product. It has everything I’m looking for in terms of lesson booking, package tracking, email reminders, text reminders, and payment integration. From the research I did, it was the most affordable product with the most features.
  • Beehiiv: Email Sends, Golf Tips Newsletter, General Email Database. I was originally using this for weekly newsletters, but with the functionalities that allow me to house my blog and all my email contacts, I made the move to use it exclusively for all my email management. If you’re looking for basic email sends, I think it’s a bit much, but if you’re looking to build out something more robust like a blog or weekly newsletter, I think it’s pretty cool.
  • Canva: Social Creative. This is what I use a lot for social media posts. I make all my YouTube and social media cover posts here. When I need to remove backgrounds or get rid of items in the background of a picture, this is my go-to.
  • CapCut: Video Editing, I use this for both short-form and long-form video editing. I find it extremely easy to use, and the free version has a ton of great features.
  • Notion: General Organization of tasks, ideas, whiteboarding.  I recently started using this, and if I’m being honest, I really like the look and flow of it both on desktop and phone. I feel like it’s a huge upgrade from constantly using Google Docs and Google Sheets.
  • Podbean: For Podcasting. I didn’t do much research when I wanted to launch a podcast, so I went off of price. I find the price to be very reasonable, and it allows me to post cross-platform and schedule episodes in advance, which are the main things I was looking for.
  • Google Docs and Sheets: For a ton of miscellaneous uses that I trying to move into Notion so its cleaner!

Most Used Apps when Coaching

  • CoachNow: Lesson summaries and general student management, I’ve been using CoachNow for roughly 10 years. It’s always been very reliable and is my most-used app. I use it for lessons, communication with my players, and to manage all of my online students as well.
  • Shot Pattern: Data tracking and on-course GPS. A fantastic tool for post-round entry that gives you detailed strokes gained data, including stats like greens, fairways, up-and-downs, and putts broken down by distances. It also has a very useful course preview mode, which can quickly show you a golf course where you’re able to overlay tee shot dispersion and proximity circles as you get closer to the green. I use this a lot, and it’s the number one thing I encourage all of my players to use before and after rounds to enter their data.
  • Smart2Move: I have the 1D Force Plates. They are extremely portable and very easy to set up, and I love how I can have them ready to use in less than a minute. The app looks great and is easy to use on my iPad, plus it integrates seamlessly with Trackman.
  • Tour Read: Green Reading and Putting Training App. Extremely easy to use, this tool gives you the slope of the greens and the amount of break to play. I use this frequently when helping players with their green reading.
  • Sportsbox AI: 3D Motion Analysis. I love the visuals and the ability to quantify with data the way a player moves in their golf swing. In the simplest form, it helps with tracking things like sway, slide, or rotation. It’s great to show players the actual numbers, and then be able to track improvements in those numbers through drills and practice.
  • TPI Pro: Managing Strength and Mobility Plans with Students and S&C Team. I connect my players with TPI-certified fitness and medical professionals for a Level 1 physical screen and a Level 2 power screen. I like being able to review what they scored on both tests, and also see the recommended plans. It helps me follow up with students to check if they have any questions or are following through with their plans.

Coaching Hardware that I use

Please note, the links below will direct you to the website or Amazon listings for them

  • Manfroto Tripod This thing is a beast—extremely durable and sturdy. I’ve owned this tripod for over 10 years and I love it. The only downside is that in indoor or tight spaces, it can be a little cumbersome. But outdoors, it never wobbles in the wind.
  • GPOD Travel Tripod This is my go-to travel tripod. Whether it’s in my teaching bag, my golf bag, or I’m in tight spaces, it collapses down to less than 12 inches, making it extremely portable and useful when I’m on the go.
  • Wireless Mic Pack for Lessons For $50, this mic is sneaky good. I use it when doing lesson summaries with students so we’re both able to talk, and even with wind, the quality is still pretty high.
  • Mic and Lapel Pack for Longer For Videos This is just your standard lapel mic pack. The audio quality is very clear, and it has great range. I owned this before upgrading to wireless mic packs for lessons, but for longer-form content, especially for YouTube, I still prefer the audio quality from this mic over my wireless pack.
  • Mic for Podcasting There are a million mics you can buy on Amazon for podcasting, but this is the one I purchased, and it’s been pretty good for me.
  • Video Recording: iPhone 13 Pro Max
